Spread the love

I am an affiliate marketer for more than 10 years and I often get asked a lot of different forums and channels this one simple question: is affiliate marketing worth it?

Well, it depends on the type of person that you are. For me, I am the type of person who always believes that hard work can really help you get the best things in life. If you are the same as me, then yes, affiliate marketing is definitely worth your time and effort.

You see, this industry is not for the faint of heart and it is most certainly not for people who are patient enough to see the results. If you are part of the global demographic of people who always want instant gratification, then no, affiliate marketing is not for you.

If you want to know the reasons why, do read further as I will highlight some points as to why affiliate marketing may or may not be worth your time and effort.

What It Entails

The main reason why affiliate marketing might not be for you is that it is not something for people who do not have the patience to see things through. To be honest, I didn’t see a lot of success in this industry in my first two years. In fact, at that time, I was merely creating and refining my content.

It wasn’t until the third year onwards where I really see the results. I’ve gained a lot of internet traffic, I get consistent commissions from sales, and I often receive kind messages from my audience saying that my content is really top-notch.

I know that it is kind of frustrating not being able to see results almost immediately, but it is to be expected in this industry.

So long as you are following a really good strategy, you are always guaranteed results, albeit in due time.

What Takes the Bulk of Your Time?

To be honest, the thing that will really take all of your time is creating your content. This involves brainstorming, keyword research, curating images and other media, among many other things.

Content marketing is definitely something that will help you thrive in this industry. So long as you are creating quality content consistently, you are always going to get results sometime in the future.

However, you might think that creating content is easy. Sure, it is easy at first, but if you are 6 months in, you will start to experience content drought and once the passion of creating content feels more of a job than a hobby, then your interest and motivation will start to waver from that point onwards. That is definitely why affiliate marketing is not for everyone.

It Takes Time

To sum things up, success in affiliate marketing requires a lot of time. In fact, you might start seeing results just after a year or two after starting your career. This prospect is not appealing to a lot of people, but it certainly is for people who believe in hard work.

Going back full circle, is affiliate marketing worth the effort? It totally depends on you.
